Stay in Bed 02:19
Stay In Bed

I’ve seen the writing on the wall
 I’ve no interest at all
All I want, is to stay in bed

I don’t see my friends and family
They’re all embarrassed about me All I want, is to stay in bed

Let me be, let me be
I don’t want to face the world
Leave me here, leave me here
 Dreaming ‘bout pretty girls

There’s no safer place to be
I t can all go to pieces without me All I want, is to stay in bed Let me be, let me be
I don’t want to face the world
Leave me here, leave me here
 Dreaming ‘bout pretty girls

My Dad says, I should act my age
We’re just, not on the same page
All I want, is to stay in bed All I want, is to stay in bed

Home Cooking

I had too much coffee this afternoon
 I know I won’t sleep tonight
So much jive is going ‘round in my head
It’s making me all uptight

I need some real home cooking
So bring me back home again. Life can be crazy, that’s for sure
Sometimes I don’t know what to do
But you still gotta live, still gotta love
You gotta play a little music too. I need some real home cooking
So take me back home again.

(missing verse) I went down to St Kilda, I was eating French toast
But it just didn’t hit the spot
I drove over to Richmond, bought some Indian food but
It came out a little too hot
I need some real home cooking
So take me back home again.

Jimi’s Goodbye Song
I’m packing my old travelling case I’ve had my fill of this place I’m wiping the tears from my face... my face Time to hit the road again I’m hitching a ride on some train Off into the sunset again I’m singing my favourite refrain I’m gone, so long, so long At first I was so hot, gave it my best shot Been singing the blues... Then early one morning, without any warning My friend Mr Booze, came around with the news, Better dust off my shoes, and play me some blues On my Gibson guitar, Dee doodly da dah de dah.... I’m singing my songs in some far off bar. so long, so long At first I was so hot, gave it my best shot Been singing the blues... Then early one morning, without any warning My friend Mr Booze, came around with the news, Better dust off my shoes, and play me some blues On my old Jazz guitar, Da de dah.... I’ll be picking my songs in some far off bar. so long, so long

You got, too much talking
When we’re climbing into bed
 I get no loving
And it’s messing with my head

 I’d be gone
If this weren’t my idea of fun

 You think it’s funny
When I’m pacing ‘round the room
 You been laughing
From the cradle to the tomb

 I’d be gone
If this weren’t my idea of fun I’ll pack my case
 Take my guitar
And throw them into the boot of my car

I I’ll go away But not very far
Cos’ I hate to see you sad

I’d regret you
If it weren’t for your home cooking
I’d forget you
If you weren’t so damn good looking I’d be gone
If this weren’t my idea of fun I’ll pack my case
 Take my guitar
And throw them into the boot of my car I’ll go away But not very far
Cos’ I hate to see you sad

I wanna love you
And I’ll make it nice and slow
I reach out to touch you
 And you say …
“You dirty so and so” I’d be gone
If this weren’t my idea of fun

I got up this morning, My life was on the run I got up this morning, My life was on the run I’m not worried
Cos I’m my father’s son

 When I was a boy
, couldn’t put the guitar down
 When I was a boy
, couldn’t put the guitar down
 I can’t help it
I just love the sound

I had my fill of women
who don’t understand

I had my fill of women
who don’t understand
So when they don’t please me
my guitar always can.

They call Dad the Maestro
, I'll be a Maestro too,
 They call Dad the Maestro
, I'll be a Maestro too, I got my Daddy’s hands
 And my Daddy’s attitude.

about

When I was a kid I used to hang around recording studios and watch Dad play music. When I grew up, I got to drink coffee and play music with him.

My Dad was Kevin Hocking OAM, an exceptional pianist, conductor and arranger. Only a few short years after this informal recording (recorded in the old family lounge room), Dad got his wings. Now my kids call out to him on cloudy days, assuring me that he is watching from the clouds.

This recording is now a precious memento of the bond I shared with my beloved Father.

Since I was a boy people have said to me… “You’re just like your Dad” .
I consider it the greatest compliment I could ask for. – Jimi Hocking.
