I’m standing in the rain Looking for a ride But no-one’s slowing down I been out here half the night I’m looking for my sunshine But the sky is coming down I’m trying to be nobody’s fool But I’ve been everybody’s clown She said she don’t want no dreamer She made it sound so bad She took me down to the courthouse She Wanted everything I had I’m looking for my sunshine But the sky is coming down I’m trying to be nobody’s fool But I’ve been everybody’s clown Well I heard she got some power But it all went to her head I hear the words you’ve spoken There’s no truth to what you said

My Fathers Son I got up this morning my life was on the run I got up this morning my life was on the run But I’m not worried, cos I’m my Father’s son When I was a boy, I couldn’t put the guitar down When I was a boy, I couldn’t put the guitar down I couldn’t help it, I just love the sound They call Dad the maestro, I’ll be a Maestro too
They call Dad the maestro, I’m happy to walk in his shoes I got my Daddy's hands
And my Daddy's attitude I’ve had my share of women who don’t understand I’ve had my fill of gals who don’t understand But when they can’t thrill me My guitar always can

Home Cooking 03:45
Home Cooking

Too much coffee in the afternoon
. I know I won’t sleep tonight
So much jive is going ‘round in my head
 It’s making me all uptight

I need some real home cooking
So take me back home again. Life can be crazy, that’s for sure
Sometimes I don’t know what to do
But you still gotta live, still gotta love
You gotta make a little music too. I need some real home cooking
So take me back home again.

I went down to St Kilda, I was eating French toast
But it just didn’t hit the spot
I drove over to Richmond I bought some Indian food but
It came out a little too hot
I need some real home cooking
So take me back home again.

Take the Blues Train

I’m gonna take the train, I’m gonna ride it all night long I’m gonna take the train, I’m gonna ride it all night long And like an old steam train, soon my blues will all be gone

I’m gonna leave the city, well you know that can’t be wrong I’m gonna leave the city, well you know that can’t be wrong You gonna think I’m out of my head
I’m gonna get drunk with Hugo T Armstrong

I’m gonna take the train !
And ride it all night long.

I’m gonna blow off steam, and dance like I don’t care. I’m gonna blow off steam, I’m gonna dance like I don’t care. You gonna think I’m crazy when I burn my rocking chair I’m gonna take the train !
And ride it all night long.

The Golden Rule. © Jimi Hocking Little Isabelle, she wanna’ shake something down She got some brand new toys, she wanna show em’ around And someone told me once a little ain’t enough You’re gonna need a lot more if the going gets tough Still you’re better off alive than you would be dead So keep your shoes on your feet and keep your hat on your head That boy from East St Kilda, he’s always driving too fast He’s always in a race, he never wanna come last Don’t wanna be the one to say you gotta slow down But if you want some trouble man there’s plenty around Still you’re better off alive than you would be dead So keep your shoes on your feet and keep your hat on your head So if you’re going crazy and you’re climbing the walls You know the higher you climb, the harder you fall You got some problems at home, a little trouble at work Because your partner is a martyr and the boss is a jerk Still you’re better off alive than you would be dead So keep your shoes on your feet and keep your hat on your head So keep your shoes on your feet And keep your hat on your head Just keep your shoes on your feet And keep your hat on your head

about

Melbourne’s Blues Roulette have fast become an integral part of the growing Melbourne Blues scene with a unique show that places a rotating cast of Australia’s best known blues artists in front of the Roulette rhythm section to create a ‘one time only’ performance based in the moment.

Recently, they’ve been capturing some of those performances for a series of EP releases. The first, with Frank Sultana was released in July and now they’re following up with a genuine icon of Australian guitar.

Jimi Hocking has carved a place for himself in rock history with The Screaming Jets, The Angels and Spectre 7 but has always kept one foot firmly placed in the blues scene with solo shows and his band, Blues Machine.

It’s been nine years since he released a blues album and with the live, on the spot nature of Blues Roulette, it delivers Jimi Hocking in full swing, in his natural habitat on stage.

This EP was recorded in a turn of the century hall in Alexandra, live in one take with no overdubs.. just the blues!
